nebbus' stitching blogMay 28 I'm moving! After carefull deliberations I've decided to get up, pack my stuff and move to Blogger. Myspace is not the place for me to be. There are just too many things irritating me. For instance, it is very hard for people to leave a comment and I can't find a way to make commenting possible for people that do not have a myspace profile. So I'm moving and I changed my blog title a little: Little dragon's knitting place (http://little-dragon-knits.blogspot.com/) will be my new home. Be patient though, it might take some time to get all the furniture in the right spot. May 25 Dear sockapalooza pal,May 23 The shinglesLast week my right arm - you know, the one I use mainly for everything - was sore. I thought 'Oh dear, could it be RSI?' I was certainly hoping not. A knitter with RSI is like a painter without eyesight. So I picked up a stitching project instead and hoped that the pain would go away. The strange thing was, however, that the pain wasn't in my joints or muscles, the soreness appeared to be in my skin. About two days later, the first spot appeared. I have weird spots quite regularly. My skin is sensitive to skin fungi so once in a while I get a spot. No big deal. But this spot was different and really sensitive to pressure. The following days (the weekend and hence no doctor on call) I got more spots, all on my right side, with little blisters. They are painfull, sensitive to pressure and they ITCH like crazy. OMG they itch and itch and itch and hurt. So I went to my docter and well, I have the shingles which in Dutch is known as gordelroos. It can take 2 to 5 weeks to get rid of and there's a chance you'll never entirely get rid of the pain. Seriously, knitting is the only thing that's keeping me sane so I do a lot of it :)
Did I tell you that I dyed a ball of sock yarn? I used some kool aid I got from my knittyboard pal Trillian42 and some Opal undyed yarn and had some fun with red, pink, green and blue. Offcourse I casted on with this yarn and it looks fun so far, though next time I'm going to try to make stripes.
I have so many socks on the needles now. I think about 5 pairs... One upstairs, my hand dyed sock, my c*eye*ber sock, my testknit, my sockapalooza sock. I'll never finish anything this way. May 19 I allmost gave upOkay, I did gave up knitting a sock in a day on Tuesday. My dad came by to do some gardening work and well, I can't just sit and knit while he's working hard on getting my garden summer proof. So I helped him and spend the day in the garden eventhough I had planned on a stressfull day of knitting a sock (lol). Wednesday was no option for a day of sock knitting as I had to help my mother with her class. They were going to a playground nearby and needed some extra supervision (and they needed someone to do take care of the snacks and drinks) Thursday I had a family sport day which was really fun but no knitting got done and yesterday me and BF have been fixing the fence in the garden. Today I had scouting and Sunday we are going to visit family. So I decided to just start the first sock and time the hours I needed for it to be knitted up. I started on Tuesday and weaved in the ends today knitting a total of... 14 hours.
yarn: Swap yarn dyed by my swap partner Knit fink
Pattern: Cable twist (http://www.helloyarn.com/cabletwistsocks.htm) Alternation: prolonged pattern on the heel. Socktopia: May flowers (because the colorway resembles the Wisteria that blossemed last week) milage: 220 meters (of a total of 2,5 miles) May 15 catsAll you can really do is wait and hope everything is going to be allright. People keep assuring you that you are doing the right thing and you don't need to worry. Everything is going to be just fine. Wait, knit and have faith in your cat's sense of direction. They will come home, be patient.
Little dragon, the tortie, stayed away for an hour Sunday. After 10 minutes I started stressing out. After 15 minutes I called her for the first time. She came back just seconds before I would have started to cry. She came in through the window and went straight to me. "Hello mum" she said while jumping on my lap. "It was so much fun playing with flowers and the grass! Thank you for letting me go outside." Who can deny a little tortois dragon the pleasure of a breath of fresh air.
Well, that happened on Sunday and the two little brats have been outside everyday since. I'm quite proud of myself that I have remained calm and sound of mind. May 11 Lime 'n Violet Swap package! It took a while to get here in Holland but I got a great package from my Lime 'n Violet swap partner Knit fink! First of all: Some awsome hand dyed yarn in Lime and Violet colors. She says in the accompaning letter that she dyed enough for two pairs so we'll have matching socks! Since I don't have any impuls controle I casted on immediately.
And did I tell you that Knit-fink has two fabulous patterns on the anticraft? Check out the vinnland socks, totally awsome. So Thanks thanks thanks Knit-fink!!!! |
